Ironies in The Da Vinci Code

by Gary C. Burger, MDiv

Referring to the people of the world who trust in the Church Teabing asks Langdon,

"What happens to those people, Robert, if persuasive scientific evidence comes out that the Church's version of the Christ story is inaccurate, and that the greatest story ever told is, in fact, the greatest story ever sold?" (p. 266-267)

The irony here is that there is no persuasive scientific evidence to support the assertions of The DaVince Code and plenty of historical evidence to support the orthodox story of Jesus and the Early Church. The DaVinci Code is a fabricated story and judging by the number of copies that have been sold it could very well be the "greatest story ever sold!"
